It's getting ever harder to find really nice smoking jackets, especially in silk-velvet cloth (you can't even find that on Savile Row, nowadays), but here's a gallery to whet your appetite. These are our highlights from the past 5 years. Among them are pieces from Huntsman, Anderson & Sheppard, Henry Poole, Dege & Skinner, Meyer & Mortimer plus many other Savile Row area stalwarts.
Some were made for notable persons such as Sir Tim Rice, actor David Wood, John Freeman (UK ambassador to the United States 1969-1971 - he wore the jacket at his welcome dinner), a WW2 Spitfire ace and a famous interior designer (QE2, The Royal Yacht, Savoy Grill) who was voted one of the best-dressed men of the 1960s. Which one is your favourite?
