The Chaps say: Exceptional 1940s suit in typical period style, bespoke hand-tailored by Wealson & Legate of Sackville Street (part of the Savile Row bespoke area), dated 1948. High quality heavyweight worsted cloth in diagonal weave, dark blue with white pinstripe.
Double-breasted jacket with 2/6 fastening, 2/4 working cuff, horn buttons, wide peak lapel with 1" buttonholes, blue satin lining to body, striped rayon lining to arms, jetted hip pockets (right pocket has change holder), 2 inside chest pockets and hip change pocket, unvented. English-cut trousers with waist adjusters and buttons / straps for attaching braces, twin pleats, waistline change pocket, button fly, single rear pocket, plain-finish leg (no turn-up / cuff).
A stunning piece in remarkable order. If you are looking for a genuine 1940s suit then you'll wait a long, long time to find another one with such fine detailing and provenance.
Condition: VERY GOOD vintage condition, all solid and ready to wear, truly remarkable for age, just some minor flaws to note - 1/4 inch hole to back of right sleeve just above elbow (could be mended, if desired), an odd cuff button to right sleeve, a few spot marks to back of left shoulder (nothing serious or obvious), some perishing of canvas backing to trouser waist adjusters and crotch lining - all shown in photos. You'll wait a long, long time to find another like this.

How to measure yourself
When grading items we use the following naming system:
Mint: An item is as perfect and pristine as when it was originally made and shows no sign of wear (mint condition is rare for vintage clothing).
Immaculate: An item shows only the slightest signs of wear.
Excellent: An item shows typical signs of wear due to occasional use but has no obvious flaws.
Very good: An item is considered wearable but has some obvious flaws (e.g.staining or soiling or loose stitching to lining). Flaws are repairable, so the item can be returned to Excellent condition.
Good: An item is wearable but cannot be returned to Excellent condition even if repairs are made.
Restoration: An item has many significant flaws but its historical value merits an investment.
