Founded in 1994, the Whitby Goth Weekend has grown into one of the world's premier alternative events, attracting tens of thousands of visitors every year. And, it's not just for goths...punks, steampunks,emos, metallers and bikers...indeed, folks from all genres of the alternative lifestyle, descend on the town for a long weekend of posing, dancing, drinking, and..erm, shopping.

If you've attended this event previously you'll appreciate what you're letting yourself in for! If this is your first time, you might want to take advantage of the 'Whitby Virgins' meeting at 11am on the Friday morning (any 'real' virgins should also be comforted that the meeting is held in daylight hours!).

The Savvy Chaps, even in their wildest, most hedonistic moments, lean more towards the steampunk genre, occasionally removing our brass goggles for black sheep ale, haddock & chips and rum & raisin ice cream (clearly, this alternative lifestyle isn't as scary as we might have imagined!)
